Arbalest: What is it? It is special type of crossbow being
cocked to load instead of being pulled.
What was it used for? It was used for warfare against the
Mongols, hunting small-large game and later on in England as the yeoman of the guards used it to protect the tower of London and is used worldwide today for anyware between small to very large game up to large elk, deer or even bear.
When was it first used? It was first used in China around 500 B.C.E by Infantrymen on the battlefield and later developed more for hunting than warfare.
Who used it? It was used by. Arbalesters, Crossbowman and foot
soldiers in wars.
What was it made of? Modern day crossbows are usually made of wood or metal. Some time for custom made aluminium or carbon fibre is used. In ancient China arbalests were made of oak, willow or
bamboo.
What was its main purpose? Its main purpose was for hunting and military services.
